Doberman Pinscher's are not for the inexperienced dog owner.  They are a noble and smart working dog.  While they make great house pets and will be naturally protective, they need both mental and physical stimulation.

The acceptable colors are black/tan, blue/tan, red/tan and fawn/tan.

If you have never owned a Doberman and wish to adopt, it is important to know how to handle this type of dog.  Below are informational website links to assist you.  The recommended site is the DPCA site address listed  below.  If you own a Dobe and want more information, these sites will be useful tools to you.

Dobermans are not known to fair well with smalls dogs or cats.  Caution must be used with this breed around small children as well.  There is a misconception that by buying a puppy, you can work a Doberman into the above situation.  That is a risk you are putting your family into.  There is no guarantee as to what a puppy's temperament will turn out to be as an adult.

We are also adding links to other Doberman Rescues, other breed rescues and national clubs.  We hope you find this information of use.  While we concentrate on the Doberman, we always come across other dogs in need and try to help when we can!
